A large carpet is created by the common work of many people.
Each person leaves a braid that becomes part of the carpet – and thus a trace in it. Within the time spent together, space opens up for exchange and conversation – a common ground.
Temporarily, a sense of belonging can emerge to those sharing time and space. At the same time, a constantly growing group is connected across time and space by their shared work producing the carpet.
The craft technique is simple and can be used immediately by anyone. Textile leftovers or old (favourite) clothes are transformed into a new object that is created cooperatively and offers space for everybody – to enter into dialogue, to listen, to face questions together and to learn from one another.
The sessions in which we work together are open to individual participants as well as groups from organizations/initiatives and their communities. We meet each other at the studio of Klasse für Alle and directly at the cooperation partners.
So far there have been 14 sessions in different constellations with groups from:
Station Wien
Mama lernt Deutsch
Sprachschule Schubert
Volkshilfe Community Work
Kulturankerzentrum Schlingertmarkt
Forum Obdach
and many individuals.
There have been sessions with 1 to over 20 participants. In total almost 100 persons have contributed to braid the carpet so far.
