CULTURAL COLLISIONS – INSPIRATIONSAUSSTELLUNG

a collaboration with Technical University Vienna, Technisches Museum Wien, PH Wien und Mumok
hosted by Students from TU Vienna (Raumplanung & Architecture) and University of Applied Arts Vienna (Klasse für Alle & CDS, Trans Arts, Social Design, Transformation Studies, KKP)

We are pleased to invite you to the opening of the Cultural Collisions project’s inspirational exhibition entitled “RE…What? – Thinking in circles, steering the future.” A hands-on exhibition designed for children aged 12 to 14, come and see for yourself the close connection between art and science!

Curated and supervised by students from TU Wien and the University of Applied Arts, this year’s exhibition focuses on the topic of “circular economy.” Various aspects are presented in interactive stations and artworks to reach and, above all, inspire children and young people!

But no matter what age, all visitors will find stimulating information in this exhibition! Come by and let’s explore the intersections of art, science, and sustainability together.

Kunstwerkstatt: Ein Punkt auf Reise
Discover drawing as an adventure together
a collaboration with hobby lobby 1030, spring 2026
hosted by Eva Brunninger, Paula Klein

When a point embarks on a journey, a line is created—and lines can be much more than just a trace on paper. Together, we will discover drawing as an adventure in seeing and perceiving. Through playful exercises, we will sharpen our artistic eye, train our hands and attention, and explore how we can transform our impressions into drawings and three-dimensional works of art using different materials.

Kunstwerkstatt: Mein Markt
Becoming creative directors, artists and producers together
a collaboration with hobby lobby 1010, spring 2026
hosted by Lina Marangatil, Ghanishka Kedar

We exchange personal stories and observations inspired by our favourite markets, such as the Viktor Adler Market nearby. As a group, you become creative directors, artists, and producers and create your own artwork for the summer festival. Let your imagination shine! We experiment with many materials and methods, including painting, collage, zines, cardboard, clay, puppet theater, printing, and sound recording. This workshop is open, fun, guided by your ideas and creativity.

Kunstwerkstatt: Zukunft
Experimenting with different materials
a collaboration with hobby lobby 1210, spring 2026
hosted by Hannah Tochtermann

Do you enjoy being creative and experimenting with different materials? Do you like making up your own stories? And have you ever wondered what mysterious remains people in the future might find of us?
We use shells, clay, natural materials, shiny plastic, supposed trash, and all kinds of found objects to create our own “fossils of the future.”

hosted by Antonija Cvitic, Sagal Hussein

Nature – is that the park next door for you? Do you think you need lots of materials that you have to buy to be creative? In this art workshop, we create lots of things using natural materials that we find around us, even in the city!

Kunstwerkstatt:Basteln 3000
A journey into your visions of the future with collage, drawing and experimental materials
a collaboration with hobby lobby 1030, Autumn 2025
hosted by sissi petutschnig
invited guests tba

What does your future look like – 10, 50 or 100 years from now? Together we will build crazy visions with collage, tape, drawing and found objects: new cities, fantasy animals, our own rules for living together. Everyone will create a piece that will be put together at the end to form a large picture – colourful, diverse and as unique as you are. With tape art, games and creative challenges, we will style our journey into a big picture.

Lernen mit Jugendlichen Angewandte Festival 2025

The Learning with Youth exhibition displays the installation of animations and drawings that the children created during the last Hobby Lobby semester at this year’s Angewandte Festival in the Klasse für Alle studio at Heiligenkreuzerhof. It is supplemented by sketches, storyboards, and an excerpt from a previous year.
The fall/winter program for 2025/26 will be announced in early September. We wish you a wonderful summer!

Exploring nature in the urban with the youth
a cooperation with hobby lobby, Spring 2023
hosted by Isa Klee, Magdalena Stückler, Ritger Traag
invited guests Isa KleeSarah Maier (Zentrum für Wurfkeramik)

What is your relationship with nature? What cool things have you experienced in nature? Do you like insects?

At the Markhof, we get to use four raised beds and cut the blackberries and raspberries; we build deadwood piles around the WOODLET, continue to build the insect nest house, and there are crocuses and other geophytes in the meadow; the dirndls are blooming yellow in the courtyard right now. We also draw plans and our sprouting ideas, build insect houses from ceramics, find an infinite number of different structures and even clay in the middle of the city and learn to orientate ourselves with a compass and self-drawn city maps.

The environment / city will be explored through various practices – we will approach the topic actively, processually: in search of material, autonomously and working with the immediate. Various sessions will take place, starting with frottage drawing, we will record and observe the structures and forms of public space.

During a walk to explore the urban wilderness with Isa Klee, we will observe our surroundings closely and find insect nesting sites in the urban interstices. Using the knowledge we have learnt, we will (re)build sculptural dwellings together using materials found in nature and clay. Our own work sessions will familiarise us with how to work with the materials. Your own imagination and interpretation are very welcome! Later, these dwellings will be brought back to the city (nature).

NATUR WERKSTATT
Exploring nature in the urban with the youth
a cooperation with hobby lobby, Spring 2024
hosted by Victoria Ferreri, Ritger Traag
invited guest Isa Klee

The aim was to give the children a greater awareness of nature and biodiversity in public spaces and to show them how they can recognise and propagate different plant and insect species in their neighbourhood in an artistic way.

The public space is also YOUR space. We teach all these elements with the help of art and ecological knowledge. We empower the children in their own skills and guide them so that art becomes less intimidating and unfamiliar.
