ART & ECOLOGY, ART & COMMUNITY is a course for students and non-students, who want to plan and implement projects with children, teenagers, and young adults as part of Klasse für Alle. (e.g., in collaborative projects with middle schools, programs such as Hobby Lobby, in cooperation with AGIDS, and with associations that work with refugees.)In Klasse für Alle, we combine ecological, social, political, anti-colonial, and subversive practices to form our artistic participatory methods.
We will ask fundamental questions about “art & ecology” and “art & community” and reflect on them: What do terms such as participation, authorship, and agency mean? What does diversity mean within and outside institutions? How do we find a language that is understandable? How do we talk to children and young people? Who do we want to reach? What role does art play in this?
In the first meeting, we will introduce ourselves to each other with our ideas, projects, and wishes and, based on this, figure out what the group needs. Possibilities for further work include: Project presentations & group feedback; Learning about methods and tools for working with groups and trying them out together; Reading of pivotal texts (by bell hooks, Paulo Freire, Stefano Harney/Fred Moten, Carmen Mörsch); Excursions and Compost Days, into which projects can be embedded.
