The artistic seminar is a cooperation with Technical University Vienna (Department for Architecture and Spatial Planning): Cultural Collisions.

Proceeding from the difficulties emerging from realities marked by climate change, droughts and wars, the course explores the potential of technologies. What do we mean, when we talk about “technologies”? Is a view directed towards the future necessarily directed towards the future?

The seminar’s aim is to conceptually develop and materially implement a participative exhibition for Viennese pupils. That means that working practically with technologies is at the center of the course.

– Through artistic methods we will experiment with materials and various techniques of its processing.

– Material that is used for technologies, always is embedded in bigger contexts. Through group experiments these contexts will be examined critically. Many of the technologies we use today are enabled through neo-colonial extraction of resources and labor. Which potentials, by contrast, do local and regenerative technologies embody when it comes to climate justice?

-Thus, we will experiment with vernacular techniques and will test them on their practical implementation and sustainability.

At the beginning of the semester there will be four input lectures from scientists, artists and designers. The provided information can serve as a starting point for the semester projects.
